Came across this little gem about how people used to become lawyers. It wasn’t until the 1800s that a law degree existed. Everyone who wanted to become a lawyer apprenticed and even after colleges began offering law courses, many still chose the apprentice route. One prominent figure, Abraham Lincoln became a lawyer via being an apprentice!

“If you are resolutely determined to make a lawyer of yourself the thing is more than half done already,” he wrote in 1855. “Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any other thing.”

Good advice for whatever career you’re contemplating.
